Women’s Health Center first SCOPE certified office in Oregon
Women’s Health Center of Southern Oregon has been awarded a Safety Certification in Outpatient Practice Excellence (SCOPE) for Women’s Health certification. SCOPE is a safety focused program of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Women’s Health Center is the first office to be certified in the state of Oregon and is among the first in the country to be awarded this prestigious certification.
SCOPE is a comprehensive patient safety review program available to medical practices in which obstetrics and gynecology services are provided. SCOPE assesses the implementation and use of patient safety concepts and techniques in an office setting. Applying for certification in the SCOPE program is voluntarily and certification is awarded based on a set of very specific criteria. Patient safety is essential to providing optimal health care for women, and implementation of patient safety measures reduces medical risk, and leads to positive patient outcomes. By achieving SCOPE certification, Women’s Health Center has demonstrated excellence in all areas of patient safety processes.
“Women’s Health Center has always been committed to patient safety. Two years ago we decided to put ourselves through this very lengthy and intense certification program to ensure we were promoting an environment of patient safety at every level of care.” said Lisa Redfern, Executive Director of Women’s Health Center. “Pursuing and achieving certification through the SCOPE process allowed us to better understand our strengths, make sure every process we have in place is effective, and work to enhance our already robust patient safety practices. To be the first OB/GYN office in the entire state of Oregon to receive this certification further demonstrates how committed we are to our patient care.”
