BioTE Pellet Hormone Therapy
Women’s Health Center of Southern Oregon offers BioTe hormone pellet therapy! Our skilled team, including several doctors trained in this transformative therapy, is ready to assist you.
BioTE hormone pellet therapy uses hormones from natural plant sources to match the body’s typical hormone levels. It treats imbalances that can happen when the body’s crucial hormones are deficient or not produced at the best levels. These imbalances can affect your overall health and quality of life.
Tiny pellets, even smaller than a grain of rice, are placed under the skin to release a small dose of hormones. Each patient is unique, so each treatment is specially tailored. BioTE is always at work and lasts several months, being slowly absorbed by the body.

BioTE Hormone Pellet Frequently Asked Questions
What are bio-identical hormones?
Bio-identical hormones come from natural plants. They’re made to match exactly the estradiol and testosterone hormones that humans produce.
What can I expect bio-identical hormones to do for me?
These hormones can lead to increased energy levels, better or increased sexual drive, stable moods, improved mental clarity and focus, and easier body shaping and fitness, among other benefits.
How often will I need treatment?
How often you need treatment depends on you as an individual, but typically, treatments are needed every 3-5 months.
What are pellet therapy side effects?
When compared to other methods of hormone delivery, BioTE® Medical’s hormone pellet therapy has fewer side effects. This is because it delivers stable hormone levels around the clock. Some patients, about 2%, might experience mild acne or facial hair, and less than 1% might notice hair thinning. All these minor side effects can be treated easily.
I get horrible premenstrual headaches; will this help me?
Yes, bio-identical therapy has been very successful in treating hormone-related headaches.
Why do I need estrogen?
Estrogen that can be absorbed in the body, when it’s bio-identical, is crucial for women to protect them against heart attack, stroke, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer’s. Synthetic estrogen taken orally doesn’t offer these universal benefits.
I have no libido/sex drive. What will this do for that if anything?
Proper hormone balance can greatly boost your sexual desires.
Will I grow unwanted hair from the testosterone?
With bio-identical hormones, there’s a smaller chance of growing unwanted hair.
What’s the difference between bio-identical hormone pellets and creams?
BHRT pellet therapy is injected under the skin, so it avoids the “roller coaster” effect often experienced with BHRT creams.
What happens at my consultation?
During your consultation, you and your doctor will talk about your symptoms to see if BioTE is the best treatment for you. We’ll also order lab tests/blood work so your pellets can be customized for you. The insertion appointment will be scheduled and will take less than 5 minutes. We’ll do follow-up lab tests after a few weeks to make sure the dosing is correct.
What Does Pellet Therapy Cost?
The cost of hormone pellet therapy varies depending on your specific treatment plan and needs. The pellets and insertion are not covered by insurance. In general, the cost of BHRT pellet therapy is comparable to other hormone therapy delivery methods.
