Elevated blood pressure can put you at greater risk for health complications. It is important that your blood pressure remain normal. Sometimes, women need to pay special attention to their blood pressure. If your doctor has talked with you about your blood pressure and advised you that you should monitor your blood pressure, the following tool can be very helpful.
Please print this page and fill in your blood pressure readings, the date and time of day reading was taken, and any special circumstances (such as stress or intense physical activity). You should try to check your blood pressure twice daily. If medication has been prescribed please note the time you took your medication. Ask your health care provider what your target blood pressure should be and write that in the space provided.
When taking your blood pressure, it is important to sit calmly for about 10 minutes before you take your reading. Your arm should be held at the level of your heart. Make sure you have not had any caffeine or tobacco within several hours of your blood pressure reading as this can make your blood pressure reading higher.
